Porcelain Crowns Porcelain crowns are caps that are placed over the surface of teeth, reinforcing weakened structure and masking chips, cracks, and discoloration. They are often placed after root canal therapy has been completed. Porcelain crowns are placed at our New York City practice to repair a damaged tooth, correctly align a patient’s bite, even out the overall appearance of a smile, or serve as anchors for a dental bridge. These beautiful, custom-made restorations are durable, long-lasting, and look just like your natural teeth.
Benefits of Porcelain Crowns At Advanced Dental Concepts, we believe that porcelain crowns represent the perfect marriage of form and function. Porcelain is an ideal material for dental restorations, as it tenaciously bonds to teeth to restore and improve the strength of your bite. In addition, porcelain provides a natural, stain-resistant luster with the subtle translucence of natural teeth, making all- porcelain crowns a particularly good choice for front teeth. In nearly all cases, it is impossible to distinguish porcelain crowns from your natural teeth!
The Placement of Porcelain Crowns Crowns are placed in two visits: In the first visit, Dr. Sims will take an impression of your teeth and place a temporary crown while the permanent restoration is being crafted in the dental lab. In the second visit, about two weeks after the first, the temporary crown is removed and the permanent crown is placed.
